Nov. 27-29: Thanksgiving Break
Dinwiddie County Public Schools wishes our students, parents, staff, and community a special time at Thanksgiving for all the things for which we are grateful — one of which is YOU!
All over the nation people will gather to celebrate the 399th Thanksgiving meal with family and/or friends. The Pilgrims in the fall of 1621 (early settlers of Plymouth Colony) held a three-day feast to celebrate a bountiful harvest. Many regard this event as the nation’s first Thanksgiving. President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed the last Thursday of November as a national day of thanksgiving on October 3, 1863. To learn more about this holiday:
