2020-2021 Instructional Preference Survey for Your Child(ren)

Parents and guardians, as we finalize the instructional plans for our school, we will be using the guidance set forth by the Governor, Virginia Department of Health (VDH), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) including social distancing and daily health checks. We know that school will look different and many families are apprehensive about sending their children back to school during this pandemic. Knowing this, we will be offering options for instruction for all students.  To best prepare for your child, please complete a survey for each student that will attend DCPS for the 2020-2021 school year to indicate your choice for your child’s instruction. This will help us with our staffing needs and instructional planning.

Please complete the survey by Friday, July 10.

Option 1: Distance Learning

Selecting this option means your child will learn at home. Remote instruction will be provided online by Dinwiddie teachers. Teachers will use the Virtual Virginia platform to provide distance learning for students. This platform will be like many home school options that are currently available.

Option 2: Blended Hybrid Instruction

Selecting this option means your child will attend school in person two days per week on an alternating schedule and will learn from home during the remainder of the week. This will allow for much smaller class sizes to meet the social distancing requirements. Students would be assigned specific days to attend each week. DCPS will make every effort to schedule students from the same family on the same days.

Option 3: Every Day Instruction

There may be special cases where students may attend school 4 days each week. Students will not attend on Wednesdays. Specific programs may include exceptional education, English Language Learners, or other programs identified by the school such as Rowanty. We continue to monitor all of the information and guidelines being provided to us from the Governor, Virginia Department of Health, and CDC. We will provide updates throughout the summer as new information becomes available or should plans change. Please contact your child’s school with any specific questions.
