About DEF
The superintendent and community leaders established the foundation in 2012 to address the growing need for enhanced educational opportunities and resources in the community. Recognizing local schools’ challenges, the foundation aimed to bridge funding gaps and support innovative programs that foster student success. Initially focused on investing in capital projects, the foundation seeks to provide scholarships, grants for teachers, funding for extracurricular activities, and resources for underserved populations. Over the years, the foundation became inactive until 2023. Now, the foundation partners with various stakeholders, including businesses, educators, and community leaders, to create sustainable initiatives that enrich the educational landscape. The foundation is vital in empowering students and educators alike, ensuring all learners have access to quality education and the tools necessary for future success.
Mission
The mission of the Dinwiddie County Education Foundation is to provide educational opportunities and resources to enhance student’s learning experiences in our community. We strive to bridge the gaps in funding and support for schools, teachers, and students, ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education. Through partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and community members, we aim to create a strong foundation for lifelong learning, empowering students to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.
