Jan. 26 – Dinwiddie Academic Team Wins Region Title!

The Dinwiddie High School Scholastic Bowl Team, an academic
competition group, earned the Region 4B Champion’s trophy on Saturday,
January 26.

Team co-captains, seniors James Beekwilder and Noah Muskett, praised
the outstanding performances by their teammates senior Parker McFadden, and
sophomores Ryan Wood, Kayla Fischer, and Rileigh Cox. Coach Ms. Jeanne
Minetree and Assistant Coach Mr. Andrew Trowbridge were elated with their
players’ competitive skills and their sportsmanship.

Scholastic Bowl is an official sport recognized by the Virginia High School
League for which students may earn a sports letter. Twelve schools comprise
the Class 4 4B Region, encompassing a broad territory including King George in
the Northern Neck to Culpeper and Louisa in the western part of the state and
several schools in the central Richmond Metro area.

The competition consists of questions from all subject areas with teams of
two teams of four students each using lock-out buzzers to try to be the first
person to answer the question correctly. The game format is similar to Jeopardy.
According to Coach Minetree, all students at Dinwiddie High School are eligible
to join the team.
