Congratulations to the Dinwiddie High School (DHS) 2017-2018 Creative Writing Team for winning the Virginia High School League (VHSL) championship earlier this month. This team is only the second team in the history of Dinwiddie Schools to win a VHSL state championship, and the only one to win across all VHSL Divisions.

Kelsey Reichenberg in The Progress-Index article “Dinwiddie Creative Writing wins second state championship in school’s history” quoted Brockwell as saying, “Dinwiddie had never, in the history of the school, placed in this competition, so to beat the Governer’s Schools and some of the largest Northern Virginia high schools, who spend much time and effort on this competition, seemed an unlikely prospect. But we did,” said Brockwell. “The students started acting like they had just won the Super Bowl, and to an extent, they had, as far as Creative Writing goes.”

Congratulations again to the 2017-2018 DHS Creative Writing Team!
